There's more than than one style to describe a cubism portrait. This project uses bright bold markers to end the two-sided look of a classic cubism face.

A Cubism Portrait Cartoon

There are lots of long-winded explanations of what cubism is, simply I similar to boil it down to the idea that it's seeing 2 sides of one thing at the very aforementioned time.

One of the easiest ways for students to try out that idea is to have them draw a face, with a cubism approach applied to it. One side is drawn in profile view, and ane is straight forwards. And if you make the dividing line run from the top of the face to the lesser, you get closed shapes that can easily exist colored differently to accent the look.

This drawing tin look corking in all kinds of media, I just prefer ane that lets your colors be as brilliant and assuming as possible. Mr. Sketch Markers are a fun to work with, only in the end it's also nigh the time and care that is taken while coloring. The more carefully things are filled in, the better (no scribbles!).

Materials for How to Depict a Cubism Portrait

  • Eraser. Large ones you can hold in your paw do a much better chore than only the pencil tips.
  • Black Sharpie Marker. These fine point permanent marker pens brand nice blackness outlines, have a skillful tip for coloring, and never bleed when they become wet. Employ them with skillful ventilation and add actress paper underneath to protect your tables.
  • Prang Crayons. These are a bit softer than other crayons and then they sometimes look like oil pastels. They also take a some nice chocolate-brown shades that Crayola does non take unless you buy their larger boxes.
  • Crayola Crayons. The reliable brand that always works well. The 24 pack has some of my favorite golden orange and xanthous colors that seem a bit richer and warmer than the ones Prang has.
